2016 Alpina B6 conversion to Apple CarPlay

Has anyone converted their 2016 Alpina B6 to use Apple CarPlay? If so, do you think it was worth the cost? Also, what kit did you use to perform the conversion?

I installed this in my 2015 650iX. Worth every penny and more. Highly recommend. Some quirks that took a bit to learn - how the idrive interfaces with the unit as well as the mode button on steering wheel for example. Once that was figured out, it works like a charm.
I installed it myself. Fairly easy, but very tight. Scratched my hands all up. I needed a blood transfusion after that. LOL.

I've heard audio quality can be a compromise with these boxes so I'm interested in your opinion on the sound quality coming out of the MMI box compared to from the OEM headunit. Any differences? What kind of sound system do you have?

I'm not really an audiophile so can't attest to the difference in sound quality. I find I still use the auxilliary wireless/bluetooth input form the factory system - B & O - but use carplay to control my iphone.

To me the sound is great.

Thank. Have you tried playing streaming music in CarPlay (Amazon, Apple Music…), if so how’s the sound of that?

I too have B&O so glad you aren’t noticing any sound differences since I would hate to compromise sound quality for CarPlay.

I guess you'll have to choose between keeping the hud or mmi on while driving.

I stream music all the time. Sounds just fine to me.

Most of MMI boxes play sound a bit worse than OEM B&O, however if you desperately need carplay, you have not that many options. Android screens have better sound quality as they have digital audio processor or you can hook up external and get to B&O quality.
