E92 - Best Looking Grille - Comments?
Would appreciate all thoughts and comments.
Current grille is Chrome with gloss black slats... looks pretty good. I see BMW Performance has an all black grille...? What do you think looks best... pic 1 or pic 2? Thx [/URL]. Couple of other black grilles I just found also..... mmmmmm... http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...3/DSC_0016.jpg http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/o...3/DSC_0009.jpg .

I suppose it will look like this, since you have virtually the same car..
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=402972 I like both of them, although on the E92 I think I prefer gloss black grill. |

Nice find!!That really helps me... sweet looking car I must say..... lol I agree, I am leaning towards the grille being full gloss black (especially with my pearl metallic paint) - and get the lower mesh sprayed gloss black as well.. Any thoughts??

Gloss black bits ftw! But be careful to paint the mesh correctly. I had mine done at a shop and they used slightly elastic paint (or so they say) so that if you scrape or bottom out or something then the paint won't crack as the bumper slightly deforms. It's also bloody hard to get all the ins-and-outs of the mesh covered well. |

The OEM black slats with chrome surround looks classy whereas the BMW performance gloss black has a bit more sporty feel!
Reckon your existing grills suited more unless you have darker wheels - eg. gunmetal, grey, black etc. |

I agree with the sporty look as mines in shadow black bmw performance grilles which are very cheap from bmw in the usa. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...16&startrow=26 Only $100 a pair plus a little more for shipping from tischerbmw.

Thanks Gary for the tip
All ordered.. ![]() ![]() Is $150 delivered a good price compared to buying BMW Performance parts locally??? (too bad if not as they are on the way.... lol ) How hard is it to swap the grilles out? Whats involved? Cheers..

You just take the bolts on top of the bumper and just pull the top of the bumper out a bit enough to get your hands in behind the grilles and pop them out,its not that difficult,no need to pull the whole bumper off.

Grilles are heaps easy. Open your bonnet, unscrew the torx screws with a T25 or T30 bit (can't remember which one), reach behind and unclip each of the six or so clips by sliding your thumb between the grille and the bumper surround.
When putting the new grille in, line it up and push firmly so it all clicks into place at once. edit: here's the official e90post diy http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47059 |

I got mine for 201.xx or something like that so I simply cbb to order from overseas to save $50. Grilles are relatively cheap though, buying other stuff from o/seas can save you thousands depending on the item. Compared to a local quote I literally saved $1000 on my exhaust. Oh and I like pissing off Mr. Harvey who is now crying poor because people realise that they can save money and get better deals online. Online shopping ftw! Also.. did you hit up schmiedmann.com for a price? Take a look, they can often be cheaper than tischer. |

I really like the black depending on if you had black rims or some kind of white and black theme throughout the car. Depending on if you've got a white car like your pictures say. But it kind of depends on that I feel.

Advice/Help Needed
Ok, got the grilles and I am ready to install. I've read the DYI guides but I'm not sure if my LCI E92 is the same. Can you please look at this pic, see my comments, then tell me how the hell I remove the grilles? Thx ![]()
