2011 bmw 328i xdrive noise coming from front diff

There is a rumbling/Grinding noise coming from front diff, mainly occurs on de-acceleration when letting off the throttle. Not present when on the throttle. As of right now there is no issues with drivability but I’m not driving it as the noise is concerning me. I initially thought it would be a wheel bearing but upon jacking up the car and spinning the front wheels determined that the noise is coming from the front differential area. Thinking I’m going to swap the diff fluid and see if that makes a difference as well as try out x delete (something I’ve wanted to play around with anyways) and see if anything will quiet it down. My questions are, is it fine to drive as is? I really don’t have the money to do a full diff swap at the moment. Does anyone have any idea where it could be coming from and what to check for. Thanks!
