Please help! Code P052B

2008 335i E92, 194,000 miles... Car runs terrible, like it's in limp mode... And code P052B comes up on my OBDII/EOBD monitor. I Googled it & it said it could be any number of things. Cam timing, a sensor, a solenoid, etc. Is there anything I can check or try to fix this myself? Maybe something that is common for this specific engine? Or ? Thank You! Bill
ps, just noticed my profile lists a JB4, DP's & a CAI. In case it matters, all this stuff has been off for awhile...
