how to open/lower bonnet when actuators have deployed

I've spotted a F13 going cheap at a local car auction. It has some damage to thee front wing and the bonnet struts have deployed.

Its only 40mins drive from home so I was wondering if I could do a quick repair to remove/replace the struts that have deployed the bonnet so it's drivable.

Does anyone know if its an easy job that can be done at the roadside?
Can the bonnet be opened as normal when they are deployed?
Do they go into limp mode?
There aren't any lights on thee dash, but I'm not sure what this 15 means?
