DCI's are negligible and restricted by the inlets, even though I have CAI's. A stock box with a drop in performance filter has proven to be just as effective on N54's from time slips.
Yes the difference from DCI's is small but they do make a difference, that was the point, as opposed the heatsoak brigade who just argue pointlessly.

Inlets make a bigger difference,

Inlets make a bigger difference,
Vehicular DIY's explanation makes sense, if you have an upgraded FMIC. The stock FMIC... nope

However, why not circulate colder air via a better CAI box to the turbos and when the air gets to the FMIC it gets even colder... just a thought...

At that point it's truly negligible IMO, there's no real spot in the N54 engine bay to get "cold air" to the cones. You have hot air being sucked from an extremely hot engine bay into already hot turbos. At that point the restriction is the air flow from inlets versus the actual air temp. Keyword here "negligible".

A large FMIC is obviously the way to get IAT's down. Or meth, I can't emphasize enough how much meth absolutely kills it on this platform. The difference is night and day.

Id also like to try the IS fan retrofit on this platform. More blow on that engine bay hot air.

Yes I was referring to with a 5/7 inch FMIC,

By the time the air gets into the turbos its superhot anyway, regardless of how cold the air that is fed from intakes. The difference if any will be minimal, the intercooler efficiency will be more important than a CAI

seems like he is asking who is the better product, Turner hotside intake, or ARM hotside intake.

i personally like turner over ARM, turner just seems cleaner, it also isn't using one filter for two turbochargers, and honestly i swear is owned by the same parent company as ECS tuning.
